For example, I was waiting for a bus, and was wondering if I should go into this small store. I didn't want to miss the bus, however the store could use the business, plus I sometimes put coins in the pushka. I saw a bus coming, but it was across the street and the light was red. When it turned green, it went. If I recall correctly, it is exactly the same in French: "to complain" is "se plaindre" ("to pity oneself") and "complaint" is "plainte" ("pity").
