The Greco-Roman stoicism was meant to accommodate their slaves and lower classes to their "inevitable" state rather than run the risk of the slaves rebelling. Judaism, OTOH, suggests that is better to be a slave to a Jew than a freeman of the lower classes among the Greco-Romans, or perhaps than even the son of a noble Roman, thus fomenting more rebellion.
