It is slight half truth but more probable would be that some people want Israel to be cut out.

Of course the problem is not merely that an Iranian violation would be detectable, it is having a viable plan for what to do if it is detected.Sammy Finkelmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05105012664741556033noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7040911.post-35206549905020830992015-02-19T21:39:49.164+02:002015-02-19T21:39:49.164+02:00Correction - the article I linked to in the first ...Correction - the article I linked to in the first comment is an new article, just written, which elaborates on the article and which probably will not be printed. (many of the passengers were from Gaza. They also come from the Sudan and Egypt itself. People from Gaza get into Egypt using various subterfuges.)

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/09/16/world/europe/smugglers-rammed-migrants-boat-sinking-it-group-says.html

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/09/20/world/middleeast/fleeing-gaza-only-to-face-treachery-and-disaster-at-sea-.html

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/10/21/world/europe/shipwreck-survivors-recount-a-deadly-journey

Smugglers nowadays destroy the boats in order to force Italy to take the passengers, and in order not to be on the boat when it is intercepted so as not to be arrested. They probably don't lose anything for passengers who die, except for their reputation compared to competitors and therefore new business, and maybe don't collect full fare for passengers who don't make it.

There is also smuggling of Syrians from Turkey. They are safe in Turkey, but their life is on hold.Sammy Finkelmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05105012664741556033noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7040911.post-41498668221320863322015-02-19T21:08:25.890+02:002015-02-19T21:08:25.890+02:00This article is online

It doesn't even mention that it appeared in the International New York Times, so there may be a plan to print it in the main paper, too. Sometimes articles that aren't precisely timely can appear days later.

It's dated February 17, 2015 1:32 pm and is one of the articles on which they allow, or encourage, comments.

They seem to be almost universally pro-Israel.
