The New World of Spies and Espionage

Nowadays, it's harder to keep a secret.  The world shrank.  And Big Brother is watching every move.  Hamas terrorist Mahmoud al-Mabhouh's executioners techniques are now old-fashioned too twentieth century for this world.

Even worse, the usual code of silence has ended.  James Bond would really need a drink if his operators treated him like the British are treating the Dubai assassins.

Could this unheard of break with normal espionage etiquette be because it's believed that Israel executed Mahmoud al-Mabhouh?

Theer are some letters in the Wall Street Journal today arguing that there was nothing wrong with this, and sayibng argumnents against the death pnalty don't apply here.

He was an active terrorist. he wa snot in prison. Could israel ask for his extradction? the real problem is taht Dubai gave him a visa. etc.

The last thing we needed was to imprison him.

I don't have a problem at all with countries using targeted assassinations in the war on terrorism.

Not to trivalize the situation but I did have to laugh when I heard on TV that the incident would cause tensions between the Europeans and Israel.

As if Europe was Israel's best friend.

Who cares what Europe thinks or feels?

amen
I agree with you, but your typical Israeli is delusional, thinking that it's possible to have diplomatic allies.
