An "Olive Branch For The Taliban," A "Big Stick/Tough Love" For Israel, Something's F'kokt in The White House

Americans, wise up.  Your President Obama is trying to sweet talk the Taliban.  And parallel to that, he's trying the speak softly carry a big stick to pressure Israel.

Israel, American Jews and Jews all over the world had better take a good look at what's going on.  There will just be more and more pressure on Israel.  No matter what we do, no matter what risks we take, sacrifices to our vital security, more and more pressure will be put on us.   Nothing we do will ever be enough.  There will just be more demands.

No one's afraid of us, so they know that they can get away with it.   The United States is terrified of Bin Ladin and the Taliban, so it's being as gentle and accommodating as it can.

That's the lesson we must learn.

Obama recently said that he would really just like to be a good one-term president, and it looks like even that is shooting a little high.

America has been obvious about it's willingness to aid groups inimical to its interests for years: we have, after all, been training the PA's paramilitary "police force" and arming them with the best we've got, because there's nothing wrong with that plan.

Obama is still under the impression that you can "negotiate" with evil. He doesn't seem to learn from his own mistakes.
As Albert Einstein said: the definition of insanity is doing the same thing again and again, and expecting different results.

Bryan, that's a real judgement problem.
Devorah, it's not only Obama, it's Israel who refuses to live in reality.

Batya's right. It's also Israel not living in reality and not behaving as if it has a "backbone!!"

I just read a back issue of "Mishpacha" where they described how Shamir managed to stand firm. One example was that he called a particular right wing leader to a secret meeting and told him to organize a mass demonstration on day "X" when Shamir would be at the White House.
**those were the days....**

Teddy Roosevelt said "Speak Softly and carry a big stick"

Liberals say "Speak loudly and throw away the stick"

Obama says, "Promise to speak loudly and claim to have a big stick in your empty hand"

netivot girl, thanks, though I have some major complaints about how Shamir handled the Madrid Conference, especially after the Arab terror attack in which Rachella Druk and Yitzchak Rofeh were murdered.

Sabba Hillel, they're (Obama and Bushes etc before him) using the "big stick" against the US's most loyal ally, while trying patience and kindness against dangerous enemies.
