The Miraculously Convenient Cancer

Ehud Olmert, Israel's former Prime Minister, is an energetic, athletic and seemingly healthy man of advanced middle-age. He suffers from a microscopic prostate cancer. At least that's what his doctors and lawyers say.

When he first announced it, his single-digit support ratings actually improved. The Israeli public seemed rather relieved that maybe he'd resign for health, rather than corruption convictions.

Then suddenly, no news about the cancer, which seemed to go into a remission of sorts.

For some very peculiar reason, his cancer comes into play only when his legal problems get serious, like now. Suddenly, he needs to travel to specialists just when the police get closer to finally indicting him.

As soon as the hearing's postponed, he's healthy enough to travel abroad.

Doesn't it make you wonder?

Is is psychosomatic or some new legal-political-physiological syndrome...

Look, he is no more corrupt then the rest of them in the international realm of politics. Remember this, he gave the 'palestinians' absoulutly nothing. Zero! In the Tanach, there it mentions about a punishment haShem will leash out to the inhabitants of Gaza. Do you want Jews there, no way, not for that. Sure he voted for it. But he was lead by Sharon (The ultimate secret leftist). It is quite an incredible shame how they had treated the Jews who they took out of Gaza and ruined many lives. Either we believe haShem is in control of these last days, or we forget. As frustrated as I was with him, his party and Israeli politics in general, it's a complex set of issues that we can take some of the blame for, the invented people (of which is also a prophecy in the Torah, not the Tanach for which we don't listen). At any rate, again he did not give the enemy anything while he was in charge. For this, he does not deserve the kind of harassment from the left or even such the disease he has. Now we will see how much Bibi's "boys" can take. Lets hope he gives them the number 1 finger to the USA. One last thing to remember, we are reliving the same souls as just before the second Temple destruction. We don't know what hell the man went through dealing with that.

shiloh, so you think that Sharon led Olmert? Many people are sure that it's the opposite. I wonder if we'll ever know the truth. I have a feeling that Tzachi knows...

True that in the end Olmert didn't damage us like other PM's, but his two wars weren't successful. That's bad enough.

The press hasn't been clear if he's supposed to get tests or treatment at Sloan Kettering.

Muse, only Olmert and Sharon know. Since Olmert really did nothing to further the anti-Torah Israel cause, this would lead more to Sharon in my opinion. Remember, when the left hammer a politician in Israel, it is for the purpose to nudge them to the world view of a democratic Israel committing suicide. (Democracy and Torah dont mix exactly).

I agree, those wars did huge damage to us. But, remember, the good old USA pulls the puppets strings. They are dirty, dirty, dirty. It is known that the last Lebanon war was mostly dictated by back door channels. The Gaza war was stopped prematurly not to take away from Gogs day. It appears that they want the middle east in constant termoil to further their agenda.

I don't know anything about his treatment, but I hope he heals, and then retires from public service completely.

Olmert's a high energy person. He's not going to retire.

Don't forget that before Olmert was dejure pm, he proclaimed a new and much more massive unilateral destruction. His Kadima cohert, Otniel Schneller of Michmas helped him with it. But neither, thank G-d, could pull it off. Almost all of Judea and Samaria were to be (G-d forbid) judenrein.

Olmert's a technocrat not a great charismatic leader like Sharon.

Yes Muse, he "declared and proclaimed" and did nothing (Thank G-d) about it. He is a master politician for sure. This is all I am saying. We needed that with all the preasure the Condi clueless gave him. I hope now, that Bibi can stand up to the incredible preasure that the Obama administration will give him. Did you see what Rahm E said yesterday. Ya, from a Jew! Another advocate for Israel to commit national suicide.

I don't trust Bibi. I don't like his wanting to be "center."
What did Rahm say?

Please note that Biblical Gaza was one of the five Philistine cities: Ashkelon, Ashod, Ekron and Gat are the other four (Shmuel/Samuel 6:17). This does not negate the fact that Gaza is within the Biblical borders of Israel. The Philistines were invaders, as are the "Palestinians" whose name is derived from the Greek/Roman name, Palaestinae, for "land of the Philistines", the name they gave to Israel to try to erase Jewish identity. It is not clear who the inhabitants of Gaza will be at the time of that punishment, which will affect other cities as well, including other "Philistine cities", Ashkelon, for one, if I remember correctly. With all the missiles flying and people fleeing cities in the Negev, it's worth reading the passage from The Prophets, which mentions that certain cities will be completely desolate. I'll look for it.
Sharon planned the expulsion to keep him and his son out of jail. Olmert, along with Dov Weissglass, masterminded many of the details. So who led it? The man who called it, and took all responsibility for it, or the man who supplied the plan of action?
Olmert doesn't deserve harassment? As mayor of Jerusalem he lied to the hareidim and drove the city into financial ruin. As a relatively low-ranking member of Kadima, he scammed his way into the post of Prime Minister after Sharon was incapacitated. And yes, I'll admit that I have a personal stake in this, but how much nerve did it take, after all the damage caused to the expellees, the residents of the Negev and the Golan, to publicly announce that he would not ask for an apology for his role in the expulsion?
I would also say that evidence points to Olmert being more corrupt than many a politician.

Was it Rahm who said "Next year in Washington D.C."? It was definitely one of the Jews at Obama's "seder".

Hadassa, thanks for the additional info. You're always on target. When will you blog here?

In terms of Sharon and Olmert. I guess it took the two of them together to pull off Disengagement. What an evil combo.

Hadassa, you don't understand Israeli politics. Olmert is being harassed because he has not abandoned Israel. He has not given one inch of it to the enemies while he has been Prime Minister. This is the sole reason for his what, 13 or 14 inditments. Sharon saved his own you know what, with the leftist scum blackmailing him. His true colors came out when he abandoned the Jews in Gaza. Leiberman, when given the current post, suddenly had an investigation opened up again against him to "get him in line". It's absoulute nonsense how the massively leftist Courts run the country. Along with the Presidente! It is extreemly dangerous to the security for Jews, especially religious Jews, Settlers to be specific. As far as lying to the Charedim, personally, I would not believe a word out of the majority of Charedim. I have been around them long enough to know them inside and out. Not all, but they continually prove the source of their neshamah rather quickly. It's a wash.

Israel is at an incredibly dangerous point in history. We will see preasure like never before. If we hit Iran, get ready to hold on to haShem as the world will come quickly to hammer Israel. Just like the prophets describe. For Jews in the galut, oy va voy. Maybe that is why the Mashiakh will be in the galut with them.

At any rate, Olmert is history. Now, Bibi will show his true color too. We have an ace in the hole, if Bibi knows about it, he will tell America, the EU, the Quartet and the UN to stick it. If he does not, get ready for the moving sale.

Batya said...

Shiloh, I agree with you about Iran and wrote that the US must do the dirty work. OK, like with the first Gulf War, we may G-d forbid be blamed.

If the courts were against Olmert, then he'd be in jail by now. He's missing the sort of charisma needed to destroy Jewish homes and communities, thank G-d.

Shiloh said...

Muse, the reason he is not in jail is because the charges are bogus and the crimes incredibly petty. Its simple, they just make life very difficult for any who don't fall in line with the leftist agenda. Shabbat Shalom.

Batya said...

Shiloh, are you sure?
People have had an additional, "legal" way of bribing him. They'd buy his wife's art work. According to the art experts, there could be no other reason why anyone would want to buy her stuff.

Shiloh, I was responding to your comment that Olmert didn't deserve to be harrassed:

"For this, he does not deserve the kind of harassment from the left or even such the disease he has."

As for the rest of your comment, it didn't have a thing that I didn't already know, including opinions that may well be wrong.

Have a good week,
Hadassa

Yes Muse, I am sure. It's a complete farce. What really ticks me off, is that Jews should not behave in this manner. Its that simple. Shavua Tov.

Interesting. I hope the truth will come out at some point.

Batya, here is what Rahm said.
==============

No less a figure than the White House chief-of-staff, Rahm Emanuel, was quoted this week laying down the law: if Israel wants US help to defuse the Iranian threat, then get ready to start evacuating settlements in the West Bank, he was reported to have told Jewish leaders in Washington.

This from a man whose father fought with a militant Zionist group, the Irgun, and whose appointment had provided such reassurance to Israeli officials.

Talkback radio blazed with fury across the country the same day as Israelis protested that no American official had the right to tell them where they could live. Then on Thursday came the news that Mr Netanyahu's planned first meeting with Mr Obama in Washington next month had been called off.

Have a good week.
