Official IDF Statement

All italics and bold, mine. I find those phrases extremely interesting/significant.

(Communicated by the IDF Spokesperson)
"A few hours ago [today, Saturday, 3.1.09], Israeli ground forces entered the Gaza Strip as part of
Operation Cast Lead against the Hamas terrorists and their affiliates and infrastructure in Gaza.
So far, the Israel Defense Force has dealt an unprecedented heavy blow to Hamas. In order to complete their mission we now launched the ground operation.
I have said all along that our military activities will widen and deepen as much as needed. Our aim is to force Hamas to stop its
hostile activities against Israel and Israelis from Gaza, and to bring about a significant change in the situation in southern Israel.
We have carefully weighed all our options. We are not war hungry but we shall not, I repeat – we shall not allow a situation in which our towns, villages and civilians are constantly targeted by Hamas. It will not be easy or short, but we are determined.
We are well aware of the humanitarian aspect and are doing and will continue to do everything possible to provide all humanitarian needs to Gaza.
While we are fighting in Gaza, we keep an open eye on the sensitive situation on our northern border. We have no aggressive intentions there. We hope the situation there will remain calm; nevertheless we are ready and alert to face any unwarranted development in that area.
We seek peace. We have restrained ourselves for a long time but now is the time to do what needs to be done. We are determined to afford our citizens what any citizen anywhere in the world is entitled to – peace, tranquility and freedom from threats."

This is an encouragement from Australia...to let you know that we are praying for Israel, the people and the IDF. There are friends of Israel throughout the world who are also praying for you and we know that G-d , Adonai, will not allow the enemy to destroy you as He is the one who has brought you back into the land that He promised and gave to you. We are praying for wisdom and insight for the leaders of the country and I hope that they finish the job and not give up before it is complete.

Israel also has my unconditional support from upstate New York.

It is extremely disheartening to hear the IDF not speak of victory. And if they're really concerned about the "humanitarian" needs of the civilians of Gaza, not to mention all of Israel, how about really serving them and completely destroying the evil Hamas?

It makes no sense to supply food and medical supplies to Gaza only to keep Hamas terrorists alive and will so they can continue to kill innocent people--both Jews and Arabs.

Jews are well-known for having Chutzpah. The IDF and government should serve as a textbook example by not caving to public opinion. Besides, the people now protesting the war didn't utter a peep when Sderot and other southern cities were under attack so who really cares what they think?

Stay safe and G-d bless you and all of Israel. May Hashem grant the IDF swift victory!

Victory in Gaza! May you all soon celebrate VG Day (similar to VE Day years ago during WW II).
