A Little Irony

I've always found it rather humorous/ironic that while Americans, and other westerners, swear on the Bible, they deny what's written in it. And Israelis, aping what they perceive to be American/Western ideals use the courts to propagate laws denying civil rights to Jews.

Three and a half years ago, the Israeli Sharon/Olmert Government blithly announced the day for activating Disengagement. Since they were only looking at the goyish calendar, they didn't realize that they had chosen Tisha B'Av, the 9th of the Jewish Month of Av, which has been a day of great tragedies for the Jewish People over the millenea.

Now, davka, the Israeli Government has decided that Jews are forbidden to live in our holy city of Hebron, even in a building owned by Jews, and they must be forcibly evicted. What date was chosen? The eve of The Torah Portion, Parshat Chaye Sarah, which mentions Abraham's purchase of land in Hebron.

It's like moving an ancient pillar.

PS Did you ever hear of someone swearing on a UN Resolution?

Olmert is the most wretched leader the Jewish people have ever had since Kink Achav. But the gemara tells us that at least Achav and Ezevel kept a glatt kosher kitchen.

Olmert, not.
